You might be hearing the headlines that inventory is up—but that doesn’t mean sales are slowing down. In fact, the numbers tell a very different story.
Looking at the Numbers
From June 1st to August 31st, 2024, there were 811 sales of single-family homes and condos in Whatcom County. During the same period in 2025, there were 857 sales. That’s an increase year over year.
Last year, from September through January, there were a total of 879 sales. As we head into the same stretch this year, projections show sales will remain steady and may even increase.
Why This Matters for Buyers and Sellers
- For Buyers: With more inventory available, those who may have struggled to find the right home now have more options. Pair that with improving mortgage rates, and it’s a great time to revisit your search.
- For Sellers: The demand is still here. With steady sales and motivated buyers, listing your home now means you’ll be entering a healthy and active market.
The Bottom Line
We are in a good position going into the end of 2025. There are homes to sell, buyers who are ready, and conditions that favor both sides of the transaction.
